About Eating Disorders
Binge Eating Disorders
Binge Eating Disorder (BED), also known as Compulsive Overeating, is characterized by recurrent episodes of consuming unusually large amounts of food in a short period of time (binging), grazing heavily all day, or eating uncontrollably past the point of feeling comfortably full. These symptoms of binge eating disorder are often used to ease discomfort, provide relief, fill a perceived void, and cope with depression, anxiety, anger, fear or loss. Unlike with Bulimia, these episodes of binging are not followed by the regular use of inappropriate compensatory behaviors such as purging, restricted food intake, or excessive exercise.
